Kids roll their car over the sight word that they are learning. What a fun way for them to show that they've learned the word. You can find many other great ideas to teach sight words on my teaching sight words page. On another note, I've reached the 100 likes on facebook milestone. Thanks everyone who has liked my page. Add Comment I've completed my cupcake math addition game and it is now available to download. In the game kids will match the topping, with the addition problem, to the cupcake, that has the solution. Their are six different color toppings. Each set of toppings has alternative ways to reach the addend. This file-folder game contains a title page, the game boards, all of the game cards, and card holders that you can attach to the back. You can download the game free until Monday at the shop. I've almost completed a brand new math game called cupcake addition. It'll be out either tomorrow or the day after so stay tuned. So the project that I was going to be working on next, after the 120 puzzles that I just created, was going to be a set to 120 chart worksheets. I'm sure you know the feeling however of starting on a new project and then halfway through having no motivation to finish it. So I'm setting aside the worksheet packet for awhile and I started a new products that I'm really excited about. So here it is my collection of word family houses. There are 60 word family houses in all so you can mix and match which word families you want to teach to you students. Each of the houses has an illustration of one of the words that are in that word family. So for the word family "-ed" there is a picture of a bed. There are lines on the side of each house for collecting new words in that word family. As many of you already know that when I release one of my new products I let it be available for free for the first few days to reward those of you who follow the blog. You can download the worksheets on my new word family houses page. They will be available for free until Saturday, the 23rd of March. After that they will be $4.50. Thank you everyone who voted in last weeks poll. As a result I've chosen to have my 120 chart puzzles with dark lines between the pieces instead of having the pieces separated I've now finished the 120 chart puzzles and they are up for sale. Yeah! There are 20 puzzles in all, 10 with just the numbers and 10 with pictures to put together. There is even a page where you can have students make their own puzzle. You can get all of them for only $1.50.
If you like these you might also want to check out all of my other first grade math games. I'm creating a collection of 120 chart puzzles, but I'm stuck on which design to use. I've created one where the pieces are separated and one with thick dark strokes between the pieces. You can download both by clicking on the file below. Once you've tried them would you mind sharing your opinion about which style you'd prefer the rest of the puzzles to be made from?
The hundred chart is a great way for first graders to build up their number sense. I created 100 chart madness as a fun way for students to practice finding numbers on the hundred chart. Game Directions Shuffle the cards. Players take turns drawing a card and placing it on the game board. When a card is drawn that cannot be placed, (because it would overlap with another card) then the other player gets to collect the cards on the board. The person who collects the most cards at the end of the game wins. For more great games visit my First grade math games page. I've built the page to collect all of the recent first grade math games that I've made and put them all in one location.
Here is a new addition game for 1st grade students to practice their addition facts with sums of 10-15. Directions: This is a 2 to 3 player game. Players take turns drawing cards. They solve the problem on the card and move their piece to the first space with the correct sum. The first person to get to the end wins. If they land on a leaf with an ant holding it the player gets to go again. There are two versions of the game, a color version and a black and white version.
I've got another first grade math game for you. This time its Apple Tree Addition. This games allows your first grader's (or any kid who needs more practice), to work on mastery of addition facts with sums of 10-20. If you like this game you might also want to try the Very Hungry Mouse game. The Very Hungry mouse is a first grade math game that I made a few weeks ago to let kids practice the addition facts with sums of 2-12. To play this math game, players take turns drawing an addition facts card. They then cover the sum with a counter. The player who covers the most apples by the end of the game wins!
I'm also thinking about making a color version of the game, so if anyone is interested please let me know by leaving a comment below. There are tons of great ideas and activities on the web to use in your classrooms. I've decided to collect and share my favorites here. Click on the picture or the link below it to go to the website.
Oh, and did you notice that the websites address has changes. Before it was kayleeseducationstudio.weebly.com but I've now got my own domain at kayedstudio.com. I thought new years was the perfect time to make a change and start off at a new location. If you click on a link to one of my pages you'll be redirected to the new page. The only problem I have with the change is Pinterest. Now whenever someone clicks on a Pin that links to my old website, because the page is being redirected, they go to this page. Has anyone else out their had this problem and been able to solve it? I really don't want people to start thinking that my page is spammy. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
