I am an elementary teacher librarian and have found one big motivator to read comes from other students. Allowing students to create book displays (with the stipulation that they had to have previously read the book) is fun for other students to learn about new books and encourages them to read do they can in turn create the own displays in the future. (Saves me time too:))

I like to do read-alouds with my students, sharing my favorite books. They often want to know more about what I like to read, so I like to have a "Recommended Reading" board in the classroom.
