We would all love to have our kids have a rich vocabulary. A quick way that I love to use is to use different greetings each morning. Its a really simple way to show students that there is more than one way to say something. I provided a list of some of my favorites. Feel free to add one of your own by leaving a comment. Hello Isn't this a glorious day? Good morning my most (adj.) class. I love your cheerful attitudes this morning. Welcome to school on this magnificent morning. I'm pleased to be inside our warm classroom. Outside it is just frigid. Set some time in the morning for students to greet each other. You might notice that students start to use some of the new vocabulary that you've used in your greetings. This practice allows students to not just be passive recipients of language but lets them practice new words. It also lets them develop good social habits. I'm working on a new e-book. This one will be a collection of printable abc games all with a frog theme. There will be board games, matching uppercase to lower case games, and many more. I'm also very excited about the promotional clip-art image that I've created for this e-book. It might just be my best yet. Free ABC games So, to get everyone excited for the new e-book I'm releasing the first game from Frog's ABC's, Little Frog, Big Frog. This is a matching uppercase to lowercase letters game. You can download it for free by clicking on the picture or the link below. Alphabet activities like this one are a great way to prepare preschoolers to enter kindergarten. This alphabet matching game lets kids practice recognizing matching pairs of upper and lower case letters. Below is a preview of what this abc game looks like. This printable alphabet game is now complete along with many others. To see them visit my Alphabet page. You will also be able to find many printable alphabetical order games along with a reproducible book for teaching b and d.
So I went to church yesterday, and surprise, I'm now the choir director. Now, I've sung in choirs many times but this is going to be a first. So I've been planning the first practice and have created a handout to use. I thought that I would share it so that all of you music teachers might be able to use it. This handout is a basic, what you should do before you even sing a note. And if any of you music teachers have any ideas for a choir rehearsal let me know. Update: 9/1/2014 - It seems there was a typo in my first edition of the vocal warm-ups and since I lost the original file, I redid it. So hopefully everyone likes the new version.
While browsing Pinterest today I came upon a great website where you can read picture books online for free. It has over 150 books to choose from and there are many great titles. Why don't you check it out? Here are some other great sites for finding Picture Books online. Another great site for finding books for your kids online is the International Children's Digital Library. It is also a great place to visit for your bilingual kids because is offers books in a wide variety of languages.
There are also some great beginning sight word readers written by me. Hope you'll check them out. Sight word Readers I've finally put the Little Blue Men Games up for sale and I've also reduced the price for the give a dog a bone games. Its now only $3.00. You can see both of these games by visiting the File Folder - Printables Page.
I'd like to thank the Teaching, my calling blog for having a step by step guide to how to automatically post new blog entries to Facebook. I've just finished following the steps and am thrilled because it's going to save me so much time.
If you would like to do the same thing on your teaching blog you can click on the link below. So while making the Suffix version of the Little Blue Men file folder game I noticed that in my prefix version I had completely forgotten to make words for one of the prefixes. How embarrassing. So for all of you who have downloaded the previous version, please download it again. I will be letting these games be available for free until next Monday when I will combine the games and put them up for sale on this site. The free giveaway is over. You can purchase this game here at File Folder - Printables page.
