Here's a fun new board game to let students practice initial consonant sounds. Students will start the game on the head of the snake and move to the end.
Kids roll dice and tell the name of the consonant and a word that starts with that sound on each letter that they land on. If they land on a star they get to take an extra turn.

Having kids use foldables is a great way for students to remember new information. It helps engage students in their learning, provide kinesthetic feedback for students, and helps students learn to take notes. I got the idea for this vocabulary foldable from A teacher's treasure blog. I put my own twist on the idea and have created a printable that you can use for the foldable.
To make the foldable cut out the pieces on the Vocabulary Foldable printable and then use the above picture as a model when putting the foldable together.

Little Blue Men are coming to earth and are trying to learn English. They already learned some prefixes and they've sent out scouts to collect words. Your students job is to match root words to a prefixes, then record their observations on a recording sheet. (Note: I'm using root word here to mean any word that a prefix can be added to, not the smallest unit of meaning. I'm doing this to have students focus on the prefix and its meaning.)
The free giveaway is over. To purchase this game or see other great file folder games visit the File-Folder - printables page.
A useful tool for teaching subtraction is having students learn about fact families. In anticipation of Saint Patrick's Day I'm releasing a file folder game that students can practice their fact families on. Click on the link below to download your freebie.
It's taken a long time but I've finished a new set of file-folder games. These games cover 72 word families and are perfect to use as reading centers or you can send these games home as homework for your students.
In these game each dog bone has a word on it. Students will need to match the word on the dog bone to the correct dog bowl that has corresponding word families. Students can play the game individually, or they can play in pairs.
_2 player version – Students will each have one side of the game board to play on. They will need to take turns choosing bones if the word on the bone matches one of their dog bowls they will place their bone down. If it doesn't the will still read the word but place it back in the pile.
Because of its large file size I can't host the file on this site. I will however be giving away a preview which contains 3 of the 12 games.
When you purchase the games instead of being redirected to a site where you can download the file, you will be sent an email with your file as an attachment.
Click above to download the preview. Click on the file above. If you like what you see you can purchase the full version on the new websites shop.
