After a student has created a character you can use these writing prompts to help them start writing. NOTE: The free giveaway is over but you can now purchase the Character Analysis e-book. Come and get your free graphic organizers. These 3 graphic organizers will help your students to organize their thoughts and impressions about characters they are reading about. They can also use them to help them make charterers in their own writing be more complex. These graphic organizers will be available as a free download until the eBook is completed. Afterwards you will be able to purchase them from this site.
Note: The free giveaway is over but you can now purchase these great character analysis graphic organizers here. I'm working on a new e-book on how to teach Character Analysis. Teaching your students to analyze the characters they read about can help them broaden their understanding of what they're reading, make them better writers by helping them develop more complicated characters, and overall broaden their enjoyment of reading. ![]() This handout will be just one part of the e-book I'm making. Students can use it to help them create characters and identify character traits of characters in books they are reading. Stay tuned to see more from the new upcoming e-book. Note: The free giveaway is over but you can now purchase the e-book. You can now purchases this handout - Character Analysis e-book. It's taken a long time but I've finished a new set of file-folder games. These games cover 72 word families and are perfect to use as reading centers or you can send these games home as homework for your students. ![]() In these game each dog bone has a word on it. Students will need to match the word on the dog bone to the correct dog bowl that has corresponding word families. Students can play the game individually, or they can play in pairs. ![]() _2 player version – Students will each have one side of the game board to play on. They will need to take turns choosing bones if the word on the bone matches one of their dog bowls they will place their bone down. If it doesn't the will still read the word but place it back in the pile. Because of its large file size I can't host the file on this site. I will however be giving away a preview which contains 3 of the 12 games. When you purchase the games instead of being redirected to a site where you can download the file, you will be sent an email with your file as an attachment. ![]()
Click above to download the preview. Click on the file above. If you like what you see you can purchase the full version on the new websites shop.
Finally a week later I've released the ESL version of Counting Kitchen: Soups on. Your ESL students will be able to practice the names of common soups and there ingredients. ![]()
In this version of counting kitchen kids will be counting out ingredients to make 5 different types of soup: Chicken noodle, Broccoli Cheese, Cheesy Potato, Minestrone, and Tomato Basil soup. This file folder game is perfect for the preschool/kindergartener to practice their counting skills. Also as a new feature in this game kids will be able to put their ingredients directly in the pot instead of just on top of it. Click below to get your free download. Also check on older blog posts to get Mac and Cheese Counting Kitchen the free giveaway for that game is ending soon. ![]()
While making the Counting Kitchen game I kept on thinking that this would also be a great way to teach ESL kids the English names of food. So I also created this ESL version of the game. On the recipe card the ingredients are in Spanish while the ingredient cards are in English. ![]() Students will read the recipe and then they need to count in English how many they need and also in English say the ingredients name. ( I don't actually know Spanish, I just used a dictionary to find the names. So if you download this and find a mistake please let me know.) ![]()
2012 has started and being full of goals and ideas I've just created my first new product of the year. It's going to be the start of a series of counting games. These games will use kids favorite food to help them learn to count. First off is the old classic of macaroni and cheese. ![]() In this game kids will count out all of the ingredients they need by placing them on the counter. ![]() There will be two types of counting boards that they will be able to use. This one will help students with there number recognition skills. ![]() This one can be used for students who already recognize numbers but skill need practice counting. ![]() There are five different recipe cards that you kids can use to practice counting. I've also included the links to the actual recipes. For those of you who homeschool this will be a great way to help you kids make real life math connections. For teachers - you can always send the recipes home. Like always the first few days after this product is released it will be available as a free download. I do this in order to reward those who subscribe to me on facebook or on my blog. After the free download is over you can purchase it on the File Folder - Printables page. ![]()
